We use the word ‘hunt’ because it best describes the way it is to search out these exceptional people.
Nothing in the way our food chains are moulded by industrial giants, clever at marketing and packaging, encourages this kind of small scale, traditional work. The economy more or less ignores them... they are out of the loop. Their children tend not to follow in their footsteps, so right now, a dying breed, though we are optimistic that as what they make becomes rare as hen’s teeth, it will become more visible and more valued.
The people who make Tea Together ‘sourced by’ products are not even in the normal run of artisans. They tend to have a twist on local tradition, local practice, so that a creativity and passion for their particular ingredient comes up with something no one else does quite the same.

What we have done, and plan to go on doing, is find these gems and then present them to the kind of sophisticated, real-food friendly, urbanites who will form a growing circle of Virtuoso enthusiasts. That way, long term, they will not only stay where they are and
