Was it the heady aroma of fantastic sour cherries from Hungary brewing for chutney in the Tea Together factory, or simply pure madness? Somehow, an idea to open a high street store in the United States whirled into reality when the ideal shop came available in the small but happening village of Millburn, New Jersey.
What we couldn’t know was how well a jam shop would be received in this vibrant community. But then - we are not just a jam shop. Our soon assembled shelving, the long table inlayed with Agnes Emery tiles, and the all important ‘cash register’, quickly gave the appearance of a stylish outlet for our established hand made organic products, with room for few more besides including our extraordinary new range of Village Virtuosos in the smart black box.
Varietal, organic olive oils from Jean-Marie Guerin, the best blended olive oil from La Cornille, sea salts from Didier Aube in St Molfe, walnut oil from Jean-Paul Bex, hazelnut oil from the Bordiers, mi-cuit fruits from David Klockenbring, fruit vinegars from… everything bears the name of its maker - the fruits of the labors of talented individuals who have stubbornly resisted short cuts and value-added wheezes, to make things the way they should be, no compromises.
Take your place on the bench and taste the difference, whether it’s oils, mustards and chutneys, or marmalades and jams. Your guide round the store is young Paul Fargier, who has grown up with the Tea Together team at St Remy au Bois, France. He knows at firsthand all there is to tell about our range, and will happily lead you through the delights of the entire Tea Together inventory in true American village store style, with French flourish.
